Finishing the drum

This is a drum in the making.
Putting rope like string on the rim, then tightening it to make it sound better.

Traditionally the drum's rim would be made from drift wood or flexable bones, the fabric would be made from baby caribou hide because it was thin and flexable, the rope would be made from sinew (tendon), to keep the fabric in place with the rim..

Now a days the drum is made from wood, fabric and rope like string

The Drum is not hit in the center, but the rim of it, with a club looking short stick with leather on top.
as you can see there is a small cut near the handel, that is to make the vibration of the drum better.
It is the vibration that makes the sound when you hit the rim rather then the center. it sounds better like that
